To ease the tense feeling that seems to be rapidly filling this blog, here is an image that caught and transported us to a lovely far away place. It might just take you away too…
How sad you see this as a battle. Everybody views things differently of course but as evident from your below response (is it a response or just merely a platform to vent your frustration about something that never needed to be like this) it is clear this is something you believe is happening. My blog is not a fail. Comments like that are quite unnecessary, almost slightly bitter? Your blog is not a fail because it is personal to you, your readers and those who think otherwise all i can say is - why are you wasting your time? If you don’t like it, no one is forcing you to look. We have had a lot of really positive comments regarding our articles, pictures and general opinions - those of which mean a lot more than one angry person. It’s totally fine for her to be your girl crush,I understand, I have mine and I’m sure you feel protective almost towards them, if you feel people are not getting their “facts” right however there is no need to try and belittle another person, let alone a women who herself is just trying to put out ideas, inspiration and opinions that just don’t match your own. There is plenty of room here (on the internet, blogs, tumblrs etc) for the both of us and our obviously conflicting views so why you see it as a battle is beyond me. This blog is supposed to be fun, let’s try and keep it that way.
This is my second tumblr battle. Whoo.
Anyway, first off, let’s just say that I actually think about things and have opinions. Shocking.
First of all, riot grrrl discusses serious topics (as does all feminism), so if you post about it, you should be ready to have said serious discussions.
You DO make the woman’s self worth less: you discuss her fashion and boyfriends, yet, don’t discuss HER or HER beliefs. Thus, you do something that she stood against— reducing a girl to feminine stereotypes.
It is true. I do post about Hanna— her pictures, music, and beliefs frequently. It’s because I am a huge fan and have a teenage girl crush on Hanna. However, merely representing the woman through her pictures isn’t offensive; merely sharing her art, which disseminates her political beliefs isn’t offensive, as it shows who she is and what she believes in. Do I/have I ever explicitly explained riot grrrl? No, probably not. But have I shared a piece of it, as opposed to reducing a strong woman to her looks and her boyfriend? No.
Your blog is fail.

Wow first off let’s just say I never thought a simple post would get somebody so angry - this isn’t exactly a blog dedicated to anything serious or debate worthy. However I feel I need to respond to the below comments about our innocent post on friday - as part of our friday girl favorite. We chose Kathleen Hanna, we called her a riot grrrl and rad and mentioned at the end that she dated Dave Grohl. Apparently this didn’t sit well with someone and we are sorry if it made you feel that way, or that you are not impressed we wanted to post about her style, with some comparisons. It’s not as if I just googled “cool 90’s women” and she popped up. Since I was fourteen (thats 10 years ago if you want to count) I have listened to Kathleen Hanna, both Bikini Kill and Le Tigre and have always thought she was rad (yes that is a word I still use) and found it interesting that she dated Grohl and the whole story behind it. The fact that you see this as making her self worth less is silly and has nothing to do with it.
It is interesting to note that there are many posts about Kathleen on the tumblr that seemed so upset by the post, however they don’t contribute much in the way of explaining the movement of the ‘riot grrrl’ or try to edcuate about it.
If anything it was to show how much I respect her as an artist AND as an inspiration to women, her style included.
Look what I found during my search for sweet Le Tigre jamz!
I’m a person who gets mad pretty easily, and as I’ve gotten older I’ve learned how to control myself. But I’d like to comment on this little article I found.
First of all, riot grrrl had no original “riot grrrls.” Both Hanna and other…

FRIDAY GIRL FAVORITE/: KATHLEEN HANNA
She is the original riot grrrrl. She is rad. Enough said.
Plus she also went on to form Le Tigre who we listened to for the majority of our teen years. No word of a lie - Deceptcon was our ringtone/alarm for a long time.
Oh and she went out with Dave Grohl…

EDGE OF URGE/: EMPTYING YOUR BANK ACCOUNT ONE LOVELY DRESS AT A TIME
Oh silly us, our google searches tend to lead us to such brand sites where we fawn over clothes we can’t afford and plot ways of how we can get our hands on a lovely pair of Campbells…
So of course Edge of Urge, a new(ish) clothing site stocking your afore mentioned Jeffery Campbells, Something Else, Wildfox and EOU own designs, made us want to ring the bank and beg for a loan. To be honest there are quite a few affordable pieces and of course everything looks better in dollars!
A sucker for fonts and layouts I love the look and feel of the site, the lovely lookbook style imagery, the bright colours and the informal cool profiles of the team behind the brand.
I’m not sure if they ship to the UK but I hope they do as I intend to blow a lot of the money Santa hopefully brings me!
So what are you waiting for… go have a look!

ZOOLOGICAL MULTI DRESS/: BOLONGARO TREVOR
Bears, Wolves, Boars and moons… my words fail me when I look at this dress.
It is beautiful. It will take a lot of selling on Ebay for this to reach my wardrobe…
Dress £255

TAKE A RIDE/: SLEIGH BELLS
Infinity Guitars… Riot Rhythm… It all points to greatness.
Make sure you get their album… TREATS now

SUCCESS!
We are so excited to see that our Wolf Sweat design is all over Polyvore right now, in some amazing sets and even used for a Twilight fan creation.
The sweat looks great (the wolf is printed with gold glitter accents) and we are very proud! You can check out the design and all the wonderful sets created featuring it.

SATURDAY SUNSHINE/: LITTLE ROY - BATTLE FOR SEATTLE
We first read a review about Little Roy a few months back, covering Nirvana songs in a reggae/ska fashion and slightly dismissed it. Oh how wrong we were! We got the album and it’s great. Can’t get enough of Lithium, Come as you are and Heart Shaped Box - he puts his own spin on the tracks and you come away with something different. We love it, we seriously do!!
You can watch him on Jools Holland here.
